Lapeirousia is a genus with about 40 species in the Iridaceae family that is found across sub-Saharan Africa from Nigeria and Ethiopia to the southwestern Cape. Leaves are flat and curved to narrow and pleated.

Lapeirousia tenuis, synonymously known as Lapeirousia divaricata var. tenuis, is a rare South African endemic species found in the Northern Cape province from Kleinsee to the escarpment west of Springbok growing on the sandy coastal plain. From winter to spring it produces pink flowers with darker markings.
