Japanese Maples have a compact, rounded form that make them superb candidates for bonsai specimens. Alternatively, grow them in your landscape (or even in large terra cotta pots) as a beautiful focal point specimen. They respond well to pruning and are easily shaped. Hardy to -20°C, Japanese Maples are surprisingly easy to grow. There are numerous Japanese Maple Tree varieties and cultivars. These seeds were obtained from Acer palmatum ‘atropurpureum’. This variety can reach heights of approximately 4.5-6 meter in the garden and has a rich dark red leaf colour.
