Albuca is a fascinating African genus of bulbous plants in the asparagus family, Asparagaceae, with its native range extending across Africa and into the Arabian Peninsula. Albuca fragrans, synonymously known as Ornithogalum fragrans is a South African indigenous bulbous perennial plant up to 1m tall with two to four narrow channelled leaves. It bears yellow flowers with green keels,15 to 25mm long, that are fragrant. The flowers are nodding in drooping racemes.
