Arctotheca forbesiana, synonymously known as Cryptostemma forbesianum or Gazania forbesiana, is a vulnerable South African endemic species found in the Western Cape, ranging from Malmesbury to Somerset West, Caledon and Elim growing amongst fynbos on seasonally wet to flooded shale, silty clay lowlands associated with silcrete and ferricrete. During spring its striking yellow blooms brighten up any neglected spot in the garden or rockery.
