Crossandra is a genus of plants in the family Acanthaceae, comprising 52 species that occur in Africa, Madagascar, Arabia and the Indian subcontinent. Some species, especially Crossandra infundibuliformis, are cultivated for their brightly colored flowers.

Crossandra greenstockii is indigenous from Pretoria to Magaliesburg. It dies down during winter and flowers from summer to autumn. Crossandra thrives in light, fertile, acidic soil that is well drained. Keep the plant moist, and cut it back after flowering. It does well in a sunny, sheltered, warm place, or indoors, with bright sunlight.
