Dracophilus proximus is a cushion forming succulent, indigenous to South Africa’s Little Namaqualand, with numerous crowded blue-green leaves. In its natural habitat it relies heavily on getting its water from moisture laden sea mists. During summer it puts on a beautiful display of pink flowers. It is best sown in autumn. It is also known as Juttadinteria proxima. This showy and highly decorative mesemb’s flowers open in the morning and closes at night.
