Melasphaerula is a monotypic cormous genus belonging to the Iridaceae family.

The only species in the genus is the gracefully elegant Melasphaerula ramosa. It has erect, sword-shaped leaves which often has a purple midrib. It produces an abundance of small creamy white to pale yellow flowers on a branched slender stem. Melasphaerula ramosa is widespread in the winter rainfall region of southern Africa where it is found from southern Namibia to the Agulhas Peninsula.
