Euclea is a group of flowering plants, belonging to family Ebenaceae, the ebony family, described as a genus by Linnaeus in 1774. It includes evergreen trees and shrubs, native to Africa, the Comoro Islands, and Arabia. Several species are used for timber, producing a hard, dark heartwood timber similar to ebony.

Euclea tomentosa is a South African endemic species found in the Northern Cape and Western Cape Provinces of South Africa. It is commonly known as Honey Guarri. It grows into a shrub of 3-4 meters tall. During spring it bears its flowers which are followed by red to purplish-black fruit.
