Lapeirousia is a genus with about 40 species in the Iridaceae family that is found across sub-Saharan Africa from Nigeria and Ethiopia to the southwestern Cape. Leaves are flat and curved to narrow and pleated.

Lapeirousia dolomitica, synonymously known as Lapeirousia dolomitica subsp. dolomitica and commonly known as Dolomite Kabong, is a South African indigenous species. It is found from Pomona in southwestern Namibia, south into the Richtersveld of the Northern Cape. Lapeirousia dolomitica grows up to 15cm in height but is often smaller. From late winter to early spring, it produces eye-catching flowers. The flower colour appears to vary somewhat; most are magenta while others are more pink/violet. Plants grow in rocky places, typically on quartzite shale but seldomly on dolomite or any other type of limestone. It is restricted to the most parched parts of the southern African winter rainfall zone.
