Lapeirousia is a genus with about 40 species in the Iridaceae family that is found across sub-Saharan Africa from Nigeria and Ethiopia to the southwestern Cape. Leaves are flat and curved to narrow and pleated.
Lapeirousia fastigiata is a South African endemic species from the Western Cape Province. It is synonymously known as Codonorhiza fastigiata, Ixia fastigiata, Lapeirousia corymbosa subsp. fastigiata, Lapeirousia purpureo-lutea or Ovieda purpureo-lutea and commonly known as Yellow Paintpetal. It has pale yellow to almost white or blue, radially symmetrical flowers with purple or brown median triangular marks in the basal third of each tepal. It has two leaves with prominent veins; the largest is sickle shaped and usually wavy or crisped.
