The Cape Mallows, Anisodontea, is a genus of 20 fast growing species of shrubs and subshrubs native to South Africa. They are evergreen with mostly toothed leaves that can be lobed, palmate, or elliptic. Flowers are 5-petalled with shallow cups and the plants are classed as half-hardy. They thrive in cool-temperate climates and used as summer bedding and in mild coastal areas where they may be grown as border plants. They do best in loam-based gritty compost and positioned in full sun.
Anisodontea scabrosa commonly known as Pink Mallow or Hairy Mallow in English and Sandroos, Pienk-Kiesieblaar or Harigemalva in Afrikaans is a fast growing evergreen shrub that grows up to 1.5m in height.
