The leaves are fleshy and lance-shaped, held stiffly erect in a tight spiral. The leaf surfaces are mostly smooth, sometimes sprinkled with faint pale spotting, while the margins carry small, evenly spaced teeth that give the rosette a finely serrated outline without looking overly fierce.
