Aloe is one of the most captivating succulent genera on Earth, celebrated for its bold architectural rosettes, resilient nature, and spectacular seasonal flower displays. Aloe carolineae

Aloe carolineae is a striking architectural aloe for collectors who enjoy bold structure and dramatic winter colour. Growing as a solitary rosette, this Kenyan species forms a strong, upright vase of long, lance-shaped leaves that curve slightly outward and down with age. The foliage is a glaucous grey-green that can flush purplish in strong sun or cool, dry weather, with neat, evenly spaced teeth along the margins adding texture and character. In time, the plant becomes a substantial specimen, perfect as a focal point in a rockery, dry border or large container.

In its native African habitat Aloe carolineae is found on hot, open, rocky slopes and well-drained, sandy or gravelly soils, where it endures intense sun, seasonal drought and occasional wind. In the garden it appreciates very similar conditions: full sun, a gritty, free-draining medium and only occasional deep watering. Once established it is highly drought tolerant, rewarding neglect rather than pampering, and is an excellent choice for water-wise and Mediterranean-style plantings in both South Africa and suitable climates worldwide.
