Clutia is a plant genus of the family Euphorbiaceae. It is native to sub-Saharan Africa and to the Arabian Peninsula.
Clutia alaternoides, commonly known as Bliksembos or Jeukbossie in Afrikaans and Broad-leaf Clutia in English is a member of the Euphorbiaceae family. It is a dioecious shrub (male and female flowers on separate plants), hairless, resprouting, up to 70cm. Leaves are sessile (stalkless), oval, with a blunt point at the tip and fine-toothed edges; flowers are cream-coloured with female flowers borne singly in leaf axils and producing three-chambered capsules (seedpods); male flowers 4mm long, clustered, emerging beyond leaves. It is a South African endemic species found in the Eastern Cape, Northern Cape and Western Cape Provinces.
