Albuca is a fascinating African genus of bulbous plants in the asparagus family, Asparagaceae, with its native range extending across Africa and into the Arabian Peninsula. Albuca abyssinica, synonymously known as Albuca melleri and commonly known in Tanzania as koyosa and kitunguu pori, is a species of flowering plant in the family Asparagaceae, native to tropical regions in Africa. The flowers of this South African indigenous perennial grows terminal racemes 20 to 30 cm long with the plant achieving heights between 60 and 100 cm. Its bulb has been used medicinally to treat inflammation and for dressing wounds.
