Braunsia is a genus of succulent plant in the family Aizoaceae, indigenous to South Africa.
Braunsia stayneri, commonly known as Tanqua Hedgehogfig and synonymously known as Echinus stayneri, is a range-restricted South African endemic species from the Northern Cape and Western Cape Provinces occurring between Ceres, Sutherland and Calvinia. It blooms late winter to early spring and forms a low, creeping succulent shrub with stems that lie along the ground and sometimes root at the nodes. Leaves are tiny—up to 10 × 6 mm—smooth and without a keel. Single flowers sit on short stalks and are cupped by bracteoles; the petals range from pink to magenta. The fruit is a five-chambered capsule with winged valves and no closing bodies.
