Lapeirousia is a genus with about 40 species in the Iridaceae family that is found across sub-Saharan Africa from Nigeria and Ethiopia to the southwestern Cape. Leaves are flat and curved to narrow and pleated.
Lapeirousia kalahariensis, synonymously known as Lapeirousia plicata subsp. longifolia, is a South African indigenous species found in the Northern Cape and North West provinces. This species has a wide distribution range across the southern edge of the Kalahari, reaching from Danielskuil and Kuruman west of Kimberley in Northern Cape to south-central Namibia. From late summer to early winter it produces cream to yellow coloured flowers.
