Lapeirousia is a genus with about 40 species in the Iridaceae family that is found across sub-Saharan Africa from Nigeria and Ethiopia to the southwestern Cape. Leaves are flat and curved to narrow and pleated.

Lapeirousia spinosa, synonymously known as Lapeirousia divaricata var. spinosa, is a South African endemic species found in the Northern Cape province growing on sandy flats in light but fine-grained soil, sometimes in quartzite pebble patches. From winter to spring it produces white to light pink flowers with magenta to red markings.
