Marlothistella is a genus of flowering plants belonging to the family Aizoaceae. It is endemic to the Cape Provinces of South Africa. The genus name of Marlothistella is in honour of Rudolf Marloth (1855–1931), a German-born South African botanist, pharmacist and analytical chemist.
Marlothistella stenophylla, commonly known as Grasvygie and synonymously known as Mesembryanthemum stenophyllum or Ruschia stenophylla is a South African endemic perennial sub-tuberous shrubby species found in the Joubertina of the Eastern Cape province growing in grassland with Acacia-scrub. This area traditionally receives both winter and summer rainfall. It has 5cm long finger like leaves and during winter and summer it produces beautiful eye-catching pinkish-purple flowers that are 3,5cm in diameter.
