Moraea variabilis, synonymously known as Galaxia variabilis and commonly known as Variable Galaxy, is an endangered South African endemic perennial geophyte found in the Western Cape province from the Koue Bokkeveld to Ceres, often in conjunction with fynbos, on sand and clay soils at altitudes of 100 to 500m. Growing from 2-4 cm tall, it has channelled mostly prostrate leaves, and pink to mauve flowers with yellow centres. The filaments are united in a column. It flowers in spring (September to October).
