Oncosiphon is a small genus of flowering plants in the Asteraceae family. The genus Oncosiphon is endemic to southern Africa and consists of 7 species which are mainly found in Namibia and the Western and Northern Cape. The genus name, Oncosiphon, is derived from the Greek word oncos, meaning ‘thick, swollen’, and siphon, meaning ‘tube’, and refers to the swollen corolla tube characteristic for the genus.

Oncosiphon africanum, synonymously known as Chrysanthemum glabratum, Chrysanthemum hirtum, Matricaria africana, Matricaria capensis, Matricaria glabrata, Matricaria hirta and Oncosiphon glabratum and commonly known as Wild Chamomile is a South African endemic species found in the Western Cape province, ranging from Berg River Mouth to the Cape Peninsula growing on coastal sands, salt marshes and inland sandy areas amongst fynbos.
