Sparaxis is a genus in the Iridaceae family that is endemic to South Africa and found mostly in the southwestern Cape and the western Karoo.
Sparaxis caryophyllacea is a South African endemic species from the Western Cape Provinces Nardous Mountain. It grows to 20cm tall with several prostrate leaves. During spring it bears two to four sweetly scented zygomorphic yellow and white flowers that are flushed with mauve. It is best sown in autumn.
