Sparaxis is a genus in the Iridaceae family that is endemic to South Africa and found mostly in the southwestern Cape and the western Karoo.
Sparaxis grandiflora ssp violaceae is a very striking species that grows to 30cm tall. It has large deep lilac-purple flowers in spring. Sparaxis is recommended for cultivation in both gardens and containers.
