Tulbaghia cernua, commonly known as Wild Garlic in English or Wilde Knoffel in Afrikaans and synonymously known as Tulbaghia campanulata, is a South African indigenous perennial found in the Eastern Cape, Free State, Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal, Limpopo, Mpumalanga, North West and Western Cape provinces. Tulbaghia cernua is a perennial up to 30cm. The leaves are strapped-shaped and arranged like a fan. The brown flowers are unusual, and the plant is highly aromatic. Interplant Tulbaghia cernua with grasses for the best effect. The leaves can also be used as a focal point. During spring and summer, wine-red to brown flowers appear.
