Capparis is a flowering plant genus in the family Capparaceae. These plants are shrubs or lianas and are collectively known as caper shrubs or caperbushes. Caperbushes are mainly used by humans for their edible fruit, which are rich in micronutrients.

Capparis tomentosa is a small tree or scrambler with soft velvety light green leaves and scented yellowish-green flowers from spring to summer. These are followed by very showy pink to orange pendulous fruits. It is believed that this tree has magical properties.
