Wurmbea is a genus of perennial bulbous plants in the Colchicaceae family from sub-saharan Africa and Australia. The rootstock is a corm and flowers can be either star or trumpet-shaped.

Wurmbea spicata, commonly known as Peper-en-soutblommetjie or Witkoppie in Afrikaans, is a South African endemic perennial flowering bulb found in the Northern Cape and Western Cape provinces found from the Bokkeveld Escarpment to Swellendam. Wurmbea spicata grows to 20cm tall. It does most of its growing during winter. It has a dense inflorescence of scented star-shaped cream flowers that can be with or without dark margins. Wurmbea spicata will flower in spring and go into dormancy during summer. This species is very well suited to pot culture.
