Acer is a genus of trees and shrubs commonly known as maples. The genus is placed in the family Sapindaceae. There are approximately 132 species, most of which are native to Asia, with a number also appearing in Europe, northern Africa, and North America.

Owing to its striking autumn colour of bright pumpkin orange, this Japanese Maple cultivar is often referred to as “Jewel of Fall”. This is a great landscape specimen with an upright, compact growing habit, attractive summer green foliage, stunning autumn colours and beautiful pale bark. This variety is hardy -20°Celsius and can grow to a mature height of approximately 4.5 meters. It responds well to pruning and is also suitable for container growing or bonsai culture.
