Aloe ambositrae

Aloe ambositrae is a rare Madagascan treasure for collectors who love elegant, architectural succulents. Endemic to rocky slopes around the town of Ambositra in Madagascar’s central highlands, this species forms a low, solitary rosette that sits neatly on the ground, anchoring itself between stones and gravel just as it does in nature. The leaves are long, strap-shaped and gently recurving, a cool glaucous blue-green with fine longitudinal striping that catches the light beautifully. Margins are finely toothed but not aggressively spiny, giving the plant a refined, almost sculptural appearance that suits both container culture and rock gardens.

In season, a slender flower stalk rises gracefully from the centre of the rosette and arches outward, carrying a one-sided spray of dangling, tubular blooms.
