Delosperma adelaidense is a low-growing, mat-forming succulent endemic to the Eastern Cape, where it occupies rocky, well-drained sites in the subtropical belt. It forms tight carpets of short stems bearing small, fleshy grey-green leaves, each pair opposite and slightly spreading, giving the mats a fine-textured appearance that hugs the contours of rocks and slopes.

Plants are reported to produce soft pink to white, daisy-like flowers that stand just above the leaf mat, giving a delicate but eye-catching flower show when viewed up close. Flowering is mainly in the warmer months, and in cultivation you can encourage a longer season by providing full sun and allowing the plants to dry slightly between thorough waterings. The reflective “ice” cells add extra sparkle in bright light.
