Gazania is a genus of flowering plants in the Asteraceae family that are native to Southern Africa, often planted as a drought-tolerant groundcover. Over a long period in summer they produce large, daisy-like composite flowerheads in brilliant shades of yellow and orange.
Gazania rigens var rigens, sometimes called treasure flower, is a spreading, low-growing, half-hardy perennial, growing to 50 cm tall and wide, with blue-grey foliage and brilliant yellow, daisy-like composite flowerheads throughout the summer. It is a herbaceous plant that is perennial in South Africa and in the Mediterranean regions, and annual in the gardens of colder regions.
