Dalbergia is a large genus of small to medium-size trees, shrubs and lianas in the pea family, Fabaceae. The genus has a wide distribution, native to the tropical regions of Central and South America, Africa, Madagascar and southern Asia. They are often used as a subject for the art of bonsai.

Dalbergia latifolia, synonymously known as Dalbergia emarginata and commonly known as Indian Rosewood and Bombay Blackwood amongst others, is a premier timber species native to low-elevation tropical monsoon forests of southeast India. The tree grows to 40 metres in height and is evergreen, but locally deciduous in drier climates. It is commonly harvested from the wild and has become overexploited and is thus now considered vulnerable to endangered in the wild. The species is grown commercially as a timber crop in several countries, and is also planted as a shade tree.
