Lapeirousia is a genus with about 40 species in the Iridaceae family that is found across sub-Saharan Africa from Nigeria and Ethiopia to the southwestern Cape. Leaves are flat and curved to narrow and pleated.
Lapeirousia littoralis subsp. littoralis, synonymously known as Lapeirousia burchellii, Lapeirousia caudata, Lapeirousia caudata subsp. burchellii, Lapeirousia ramosissima or Lapeirousia streyi and commonly known as Spider Kabong, is a South African indigenous species found in the Northern Cape province, where it occurs in the Richtersveld, northern Namaqualand and Bushmanland, extending northwards to Namibia, Angola and Botswana. During summer it produces dainty cream to light pink flowers.
