Lapeirousia is a genus with about 40 species in the Iridaceae family that is found across sub-Saharan Africa from Nigeria and Ethiopia to the southwestern Cape. Leaves are flat and curved to narrow and pleated.

Lapeirousia plicata ssp. effurcata, synonymously known as Lapeirousia effurcata and commonly known as Fork Kabong, is a South African endemic species found in the Western Cape province. From late winter to early spring, it produces silky white flowers with dark purple markings.
