Lobelia is a genus of flowering plants in the Campanulaceae family comprising 415 species, of which 69 are indigenous to South Africa.
Lobelia setacea, synonymously known as Lobelia setacea var. dissectifolia and commonly known as Wiry Lobelia or Slender Lobelia, is a South African endemic species found in the Western Cape from the Cape Peninsula to the Langeberg Mountains growing on low sandstone slopes and sandy flats. It grows into a tufted, wiry, erect or sprawling perennial with slender, wiry stems up to 60cm. The leaves are sparse, filiform to narrowly linear. From spring to late summer, it bears branched racemes of hairless, blue, violet or sometimes white flowers, up to 10mm long.
