Moraea loubseri, commonly known as Spider Flappie in English or Spinnekopflappie in Afrikaans, is a critically endangered South African endemic perennial geophyte found in the Langebaan area of the Western Cape province growing in granite outcrop on sandy, granite-derived soils. Moraea loubseri has bizarre colouration! The centre of the flower is translucent green, covered in glossy black hairs. At the outer edge of the translucent region is a deep blue nectar guide, also covered in hairs. The rest of the tepal is purple and mostly hairless. Flowering occurs during spring.
