Linanthus grandiflorus or Mountain phlox as it is commonly known belongs to the Polemoniaceae family and is one of the most fragrant annual wildflowers. It produces lilac, pink, and white clusters of long-blooming, low-growing flowers that also thrive in higher elevations. It can be sown around low-growing perennials for midsummer blooms in the border. Thrives in sun or shade, but prefers well-drained soil with plenty of moisture. It is wonderful in pots, beds, and cascading over walls. The plant is good as a cut flower. The plant attracts bees, birds, and butterflies.
