Feretia aeruginescens or Red-leaved Medlar as it is commonly known is a scrambling shrub or small tree, 3-4 meters in height. The top layer of the bark is reddish and flaking. It has glossy leaves and from spring to summer it bears striking white flowers that are flushed with pink. These are followed by very decorative crimson fruit.
