This member of the Apocynaceae family was given this name by N.E.Br. It is found in Southern Africa (Zimbabwe, Swaziland). Named after Mrs. Rose Monteiro, 1840, the wife of Joachim J. Monteiro, a Portuguese entomologist and naturalist. It is in the subfamily Periplocoideae. Former a member of the Asclepiadaceae and the Periplocaceae family. It has creamy white bell-like flowers with maroon/brownish purple speckled centres.
