Wurmbea is a genus of perennial bulbous plants in the Colchicaceae family from sub-saharan Africa and Australia. The rootstock is a corm and flowers can be either star or trumpet-shaped.

Wurmbea kraussii, commonly known as Pepper-and-Salt flower, is a South African indigenous perennial bulb found in the Eastern Cape, Free State, KwaZulu-Natal and Mpumalanga provinces. It has a solitary basal leaf that can grow up to 15 cm in length. From spring to summer Wurmbea kraussii has the most attractive flower spikes of white to pink flowers with dark purple blotches on the tepals.
