Amellus is a genus of flowering plants in the family Asteraceae, described as a genus by Linnaeus in 1759. Amellus is found in southern Africa from South Africa to Namibia and into Botswana.

Amellus nanus is a South African indigenous species found in the Northern Cape Province, extending from Southern Namibia to the Richtersveld. From August to November, it produces an abundance of mauve flowers, attracting insects like bees and butterflies to the garden, which in turn attracts insectivorous birds.
