Sparaxis is a genus in the Iridaceae family that is endemic to South Africa and found mostly in the southwestern Cape and the western Karoo.
Sparaxis auriculata is a South African endemic species from the Western Cape Province. It ranges from flats and lower slopes south-east of Vanrhynsdorp at the base of the Gifberg and Matsikamma mountains. It grows from 15 cm to 50 cm tall. It has darkly speckled lanceolate leaves. During spring it bears lightly scented mauve & yellow flowers. Sparaxis is recommended for cultivation in both gardens and containers.
